Aloe consists of hundreds of species of succulent plants. The most widely known of these is Aloe Vera. Aloe Vera usually is distributed as a liquid or a gel.

When ingested as a liquid, Aloe Vera is believed to help with irritable bowel syndrome, diabetes, and many other maladies.

When Aloe Vera gel is applied topically, it is believed to help with burns, sunburns, psoriasis, herpes, and other conditions.

Like almost anything, Aloe Vera should be used in moderation when applied topically or ingested.
